LEUZE Rotary Encoder

There are two main types of rotary encoders:

1. Incremental Rotary Encoder: This type of encoder provides incremental output pulses as the shaft rotates. It generates two square wave outputs, typically called “A” and “B” channels or signals. The encoder pulses indicate both the direction and the amount of rotation. By analyzing the sequence of pulses, you can determine the rotation direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) and count the number of pulses to calculate the total rotation angle.
2. Absolute Rotary Encoder: Absolute encoders provide a unique digital code for each shaft position. As the shaft rotates, the encoder sends a digital signal that corresponds directly to the current shaft position. This means that even if the power is turned off, the encoder retains the exact position information. Absolute encoders are useful when you need to know the precise position without relying on a reference point, making them suitable for applications where power interruptions may occur.
