Fiber optic sensors

If space for sensors is particularly tight or extreme ambient conditions prevail, conventional cubic or cylindrical sensors quickly reach their limits. This is where fiber optic sensors provide an elegant solution. They consist of a two-part structure: flexible fiber optics made of plastic or glass and available in various lengths, and separate amplifiers with a wide range of evaluation options. This design makes it possible to place the amplifier outside the critical environment and install it in suitable locations while the fiber runs to the detection point. This means that even demanding conditions can be mastered reliably.

Amplifiers for fiber optics

The optical fibers are plugged into the amplifier. Depending on the model, the ranges of the fibers and the available functions vary. In addition to the basic requirements with 20-turn potentiometer for sensitivity adjustment with high resolution, also available are 2 switches for light/dark switching as well as versions with convenient, high-performance amplifiers with extensive adjustment options for operating ranges, sensitivities and time functions. The signal value, and at the same time the switching threshold, are shown on two easy-to-read displays. Three different teach modes simplify configuration. Also available as IO-Link variant.
